Global leaders in cloud software for conversational commerce, CM provide solutions for direct messaging, online payments, digital identification and VoIP messaging.
Building a relationship with a top class client such as this was important. That tied with strict internal checks and deadlines meant a routine cycle of briefing, ideation and review was quickly adopted. This allowed me to work with multiple teams from CM at once, meaning there was always an ongoing project during the working relationship.
Working among others, I took on CM.com’s design and motion work.
CM had recently undergone a brand refresh when we first began our working relationship. This provided a very thorough framework and guide for producing brand collateral. In addition to of our standard daily support, a number of long-form animation projects were frequently undertaken. These product demonstration videos would showcase the CM software and further bring the brand to life.
Immersion in the CM way of working was key. Collaborating closely with marketing teams in both the UK and South Africa, a routine cycle of briefing, ideation and review was quickly adopted. This allowed one team to proof while the other readied their next task.
Being one of our longest partnerships to date, our integration to their workflow included attending weekly production meetings with heads of department, allowing us to better understand the CM offering and target audience in great detail.
Working with very robust brand guidelines can prove to be both a blessing and a challenge. Such clear and extensive rules for working with the brand naturally ensures consistency. While this leaves little room for error, the designer will have to search for opportunities to inject creativity and a fresh take on deliverables. This is always a rewarding exercise and a great satisfaction to see the end results of that process being shared with such a wide audience.
